People asking to pay for an “spot” at our resort/destination wedding

My fiancé and I are planning a wedding at a resort. Obviously, things can get quite expensive per person (for what we want) and we only have a budget for so many people. Some of our friends/family who aren’t as close are now offering to pay their way so they can attend. I want them to be there but I also don’t want to seem tacky or like they are “lesser”/not as good of a friend. I wouldn’t feel weird if the roles were reversed; I’d happily pay $200 to go to a friend’s fancy beach wedding at a nice resort with gourmet food/open bar. So, just wondering what others think of this? We are going to have a big party to celebrate with everyone who couldn’t/didn’t want go but I realize that’s not the same thing. And is it more rude to completely decline someone’s offer to pay their way when there will definitely be room for extra people (we can’t afford to pay for the venue’s max capacity)? Thanks for any advice!PS sorry for the typo in the title, not sure how to edit that whoops via /r/weddingplanning https://ift.tt/3B8k7l9
