My parents divorced when I was 3 and they both remarried later with kids. I have a difficult relationship with my dad and step-mom, also I’m not close with my step-dad either. And I don’t want to put those four people in the same room. Some of my relatives are kind but they can be too intrusive and ask insensitive questions. I just don’t want that kind of stress at my wedding. The problem is I’m Asian. A wedding without family and relatives is basically nonexistent in our society. I have thought about a wedding without them, but that means we’re not inviting my in-laws either. I can’t imagine the tantrum they’d throw after, even from the ones I like.
