Me (39F) and FH (35M) have been engaged for months. We havent really planned a wedding because we have been holding off until after the first of the year. We arent planning to do any kind of big wedding. A friend of ours is an ordained minister. We were just going to go to the park and have a small ceremony with just a few friends and a couple of relatives (including my 2 kids, 16 and 18) and then do an "open house" of sorts at a local bar that has a separate music hall. Maybe bring in some food and start a tab for our guests to order drinks and then anyone that wanted to stop by could come and make a plate. We wanted to get past the holidays and any other potential for lockdowns before we invested any money in it.Last week, FH started having a lot of tooth and jaw pain. Turns out, he is going to need EXTENSIVE dental work done on his bottom teeth. His company offers medical but not dental. I on the other hand, have EXCELLENT medical, dental and vision coverage.I told him we should just forget about doing any to-do and just go get the marriage license and have our friend marry us with a couple of witnesses so we can get him on my dental plan.He says he doesnt want me to feel like he's just marrying me for my insurance and he wants me to have my "bride" moment. Personally, I feel like his health is more important than a dress and flowers and its not like we were planning a ceremony on the steps of Versailles or anything. He is adamant that he wants to wait and do it like we originally planned. For reference, this is my second and his first.Stubborn! via /r/weddingplanning https://ift.tt/3BrYnAO
