Finding the balance in backyard/small/DIy wedding?

Hi all- getting married 4/3/21 at a large airbnb (that does weddings) with expected 40-45 guests max.Aside from Covid adding major obvious stress and anxiety in planning I have been very denial/hands off on getting into everything afraid it would fall through. We know now we are 100% marrying no matter how many guests do show up (all of which are out of town)So, my questions are to those who have had smaller and more casual weddings, how did you find the balance?I keep teetering between it not "feeling wedding enough" and not wanting to spend the money for such a small wedding when we are a low key couple as it is. Along with not adding the stress when it could all fall through (guests not attending- but for sure we can expect 20)For instance, the airbnb charges 1000 for "decorations and setup and minor coordination" none of which are my first choice if i were to design the wedding touches (tables and scapes/overall look) i feel i could get a better deal but the simplicity of not handling it seems easier. We are also debating Dj as the setup is not cohesive between ceremony (outdoors 100yds from the house), dinner (indoors based on likely expected weather- we are in CO) and dance floor (tented, 100yd from house in other direction). A karaoke/spotify setup seems easier logistically and 1/10th the price for our area (all the guests are our college/childhood friends minus our parents and siblings)also majorly debating the level of catering to go for. We have pretty much agreed we don't need a bartender as we know our guests and everyone should be okay with beer on ice, batch cocktails in dispensers and wine for the ones who don't drink beer. We also were planning a cookie table rather than served cake.Just trying to understand what level of personall is needed for a 40 p wedding bc it seems unnecessary to bring in staff but am unsure of how smooth things will go and what our guests expect when they are essentially travelling for a destination wedding.Sorry this is so rambling just looking for overall advice on what you regretted or are glad you did for the smaller scale weddings. Thanks! via /r/weddingplanning https://ift.tt/2MnWgKp
