July 2022 wedding, I booked an officiant a few months ago. I live in the northeast and it’s wedding palooza it’s been so hard to find vendors. I reached out to multiple officiants and only one has my date I’ll call her Lavendar for the point of this explanation (not her real name). Spoke with her on zoom went over everything, her fee was $800 for the ceremony, rehearsal and marriage boot camp program. I thought that was a little high but it included everything and like I said I didn’t have many options. Instead of a down payment she had me buy her boot camp program ($500) and would pay the rest at the ceremony.Well times gone on and vaccines have been created and such. Most places around here require them, I personally want to try and get as close to a full vaxxed wedding as possible, my own mother contacted covid from a non vaxxed coworker before she could get her second shot and was horrifically sick. She now has long covid too, so it’s a bit of a sore spot.I asked my vendors if covid vax being required was an issue, my photographer said he wasn’t vaxxed y er but would get tested and wear a mask (not ideal but fine). Lavendar said it was “illegal to require vaccines” (it’s not) and was very upset that I asked her such a personal question. Keep in mind I just said the venue MAY require it as this is happening everywhere. She then said maybe I’d be a better fit for someone else and referred me to a totally different person.I was shocked because I certainly can’t be the first person to ask this it’s very common in my area. I then realized she probably doesn’t care about officiating my wedding because she already made me buy her stupid class. Technically not illegal but overall shady.Thoughts? Ever heard of this? via /r/weddingplanning https://ift.tt/3nA3lqw
