Hi folks! Wondering your thoughts and advice.I found an awesome wedding planner who’s portfolio really aligns well with my aesthetic. She’s awesome, but the downside is that after reading the contract, I’m a bit nervous about the language in it. Essentially it says that the planner does take commissions from vendors and that this won’t be passed on as a discount to the couple. There’s also strong language essentially saying that if anything happens at all we are shit out of luck for the full costs of the planning. I’ve emailed to clarify the policy on what will happen should she get sick or should covid restrictions or emergency situations cause a delay so we’ll see on that but I felt too awkward and unsure if I should bring up the commission stuff.I know it’s common practice in the industry, but I’m already paying higher end of the spectrum for planning services and it just doesn’t feel great knowing shes making even more money that I then can’t put towards my own wedding. Part of the reason I wanted a planner was to negotiate on my behalf as I’m not very good at negotiating prices. Is this unreasonable?Should I keep looking for a better fit? Should I try and address the situation with her and negotiate the contract terms? Should I just suck it up and deal since I like her ability and style? via /r/weddingplanning https://ift.tt/3FJN4Xw
